NSW supporters have been dealt a significant blow with the announcement that star centre Latrell Mitchell has been ruled out for Origin II. Mitchell missed out on Origin I due to a calf injury and couldn’t fulfill his media duties on Wednesday as he had a physiotherapy appointment.
Reporter Danny Weidler broke the news on 9News, saying “Latrell Mitchell, the Blues’ biggest superstar, is out of Origin.”

“This is a massive blow for Brad Fittler’s team, as they’ve already lost Nathan Cleary, their guiding light, and Api Koroisau, their creative hooker. With the latest news that Latrell Mitchell is out, the Blues have their work cut out for them,” Weidler reported further.

“Mitchell was in attendance at yesterday’s (Wednesday) training, but he was unable to participate in the session due to his calf injury, which he sustained just before the first game,” Weidler added.

The presence of South Sydney Rabbitohs physiotherapist Eddie Farah at the Blues’ training on Wednesday raised further questions. Cameron Murray also seemed to have a groin injury while Liam Martin was dealing with a concussion from the Panthers’ clash against the Roosters. Stephen Crichton has been called up to replace Mitchell while Matt Burton has earned a place in the squad. Crichton began in the centres during game one.
