Master Comics #21 debuted on newsstands around November 5, 1941, a little over a month before the United States joined the war. Bulletman enters the Captain Marvel narrative in this issue to confront the impending menace, soon joined by Captain Marvel himself.
Originally published in a larger-than-standard format of 10.5″ x 14″, Master Comics was an anthology series by Fawcett Publications that ran from 1940 to 1953. While initially featuring the character Master Man, known for his super strength and invulnerability, the series transitioned to a standard Golden Age comic book size starting with Master Comics #7. It introduced beloved characters like Bulletman, Bulletgirl, and patriotic hero Minute-Man. Following the crossover saga in Master Comics #21, Whiz Comics #25, and Master Comics #22, Captain Marvel Jr. took over as the protagonist in Master Comics #23.
