Movenpick Mactan Resurfaces: Catch the Buzz!

Movenpick Mactan Resurfaces: Catch the Buzz!

Following a lengthy pause due to the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and Typhoon “Odette” (internationally known as Rai) in December 2021, Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu is reopening today.

During the initial soft opening, there will be 85 refreshed rooms and suites available, with plans to gradually have all rooms available within the next year.

Party-goers and night owls will also be delighted to know that Ibiza, which suffered heavily from Typhoon Odette, is scheduled to reopen in time for the Christmas rush this year.

The renovation and refurbishment of Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu, which suspended operations on August 31, 2020, is estimated to cost around P550 million.

Raising the necessary funds has been a challenge, but the group led by respected local business leader Manny Osmeña, who is financing the hotel’s revival, is confident that the significant investment will eventually pay off, particularly as the demand for revenge travel remains strong.

Cold Sapporo, Hot Business

Murcia municipality in Negros Occidental has recently welcomed one of its largest investments to date: the P350-million state-of-the-art Sapporo cold storage facility and ice plant of Czark Mak Corporation (CZM) Group of Companies.

This investment includes expenses related to solar power, real estate, and planned dry warehouses.

While CZM may not be a well-known name, the company operates various businesses across the country, including real estate, manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, agribusiness, food and hospitality, and technology. They are constantly exploring new business opportunities and expanding their customer reach.

The construction of the cold storage facility is expected to be completed this month, with commercial operations set to begin in the third week of July. It will have a capacity of 1,728 pallet positions, featuring five frozen rooms, two chiller rooms, and two blast freezing rooms.

The facility has received non-pioneer status registration approval from the Board of Investment. Sapporo offers cold storage solutions for both blasting and freezing, as well as chillers for agricultural products that don’t require freezing temperatures.

It will cater to the needs of agricultural and other producers in Murcia, as well as Bacolod, Bago, Talisay, Silay, Don Salvador Benedicto, and other areas.

CZM currently operates a cold storage facility and ice plant in Guiguinto, Bulacan, through its unit Acro Ice. They also have an ice plant and soon-to-be cold storage in Batangas under another unit, The Service Warehouse.

CZM’s Chairman and President, Caesar Wongchuking, explained that Negros has always been one of their preferred investment areas for the company’s cold chain portfolio due to the region’s strong agricultural sector and its identification as one of the country’s key growth areas by the current administration.
