Necessary Evil: Marvel’s Absence from Hall H at Comic-Con 2023

Marvel’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con has been a highly anticipated event in the past. Last year, Marvel unveiled The Multiverse Saga at SDCC, delivering exciting new trailers, release dates, and more for Phases 5 and 6. However, it seems that Marvel Studios will not be making an appearance in Hall H in 2023, as reported by TheWrap.

The ongoing WGA strike has had a significant impact on various studios, including Marvel. Projects like Blade, Daredevil, Thunderbolts, and Wonder Man have been put on hold indefinitely due to the strike.

In addition, SAG-AFTRA, the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, may also go on strike after their contract with Hollywood studios expires on June 30. This would have made it impossible for Marvel to make any big plans for Comic-Con, as none of the actors would have been able to attend.

While there may be some presence from Marvel on the convention floor, we should not expect any major announcements. However, there is still a possibility of getting a new trailer or two during the week of San Diego Comic-Con, even without a panel.

Considering the current state of the MCU, Marvel could have greatly benefited from the boost that a Hall H panel usually provides. Fans are eagerly awaiting trailers and announcements, but it appears that Marvel Studios may not have much news to share at this time. It would be advisable for the studio to wait for the strike(s) to be resolved before finalizing a new schedule in light of Disney’s recent MCU release date changes.

Regardless of the strike, when we do hear from Marvel Studios again, we hope to see a steady guiding hand leading us through the increasingly complex Multiverse Saga.
