The iconic Madonna has been admitted to the hospital due to a severe bacterial infection. Her management has referred to it as a “serious” condition. The current status of the 64-year-old musician and actor’s hospitalization is unknown as of Wednesday afternoon. Madonna’s highly anticipated “Celebration” tour, originally scheduled to kick off in Vancouver on July 15, has been postponed. The tour was intended to commemorate her 40th anniversary as a singer.
On Instagram, Madonna’s longtime manager, Guy Oseary, provided an update on her condition. He wrote, “On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which led to several days in the ICU. Her health is improving, but she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.”
Specific details about the infection and the estimated recovery time have not been disclosed. Oseary mentioned in his statement that all of Madonna’s current commitments, including the tour, have been put on hold for the time being.
