NRL news 2023 | Wests Tigers make fourth signing for 2024 with Aidan Sezer set to join the club

Wests Tigers long and drawn out search for a halfback looks as if it’s come to an end with Aidan Sezer signing until the end of 2024.

Sezer has previously played at the Gold Coast Titans and Canberra Raiders, featuring in the 2019 grand final with the latter. The past four seasons he’s played in the UK Super League with Huddersfield Giants and Leeds Rhinos.

Tigers assistant coach and 2024 head coach Benji Marshall was pleased with the acquisition.

“We are very excited to have a player with Aidan’s experience and calibre to add to what we’re building for our future,” he said.

“He’s a very good person and we look forward to what he can bring to our club on and off the field.

“His experience will complement our youth and he’ll help mentor our younger players, particularly in our spine.”

The 32-year-old’s return to the NRL means he’ll add to his 155 games in the competition.

Sezer’s move continues the Tigers’ aggressive re-shaping of their roster with Manly juniors Latu and Samuela Fainu signing until the end of the 2027 season. Dragons discard Jayden Sullivan is also joining the club.

Halves Luke Brooks and Daine Laurie will both depart at the end of the season along with outside back Tommy Talau. Ken Maumolo and Joe Ofahengaue moved from the club mid-season.
