NRLW news 2023 | Roosters forward Pani Hopoate sin binned for hip drop tackle on Jasmine Peters, Roosters v Cowboys highlights

Roosters forward Pani Hopoate will have a nervous wait ahead of her after she was sin binned during her side’s 40-16 win for a gruesome hip drop tackle on Cowboys centre Jasmine Peters.

Midway through the second half, Peters hit the ball up before Hopoate fell on her ankle with the centre letting out an audible scream.

“(There’s) immediate concern for that right ankle,” NRLW legend Ruan Sims said on Nine’s coverage.

Footage then showed concern in the Cowboys coaching box, in particular head coach Ben Jeffries.

“They’d be very stressed about that injury,” former Jillaroo Allana Ferguson said.

After a significant stoppage in play, Peters had to be helped off the field but in a good sign for Cowboys fans, she smiled as she left.

Hopoate was also given her marching orders but it didn’t affect the result with the Roosters continuing to run in tries during her absence.
