Plenty of Leaks Unveiling the Upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5

With approximately one month remaining until the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, we have a comprehensive understanding of what to expect from the upcoming iterations of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5. Through various leaks over the past few days, we have obtained significant information regarding the phones’ appearance and internal specifications before their official unveiling.

On July 25th, a Twitter leak shared by Revegnus showcased an image of the folded Galaxy Z Flip 5 enclosed in a sleek black case (via 9to5Google). Although the case conceals much of the design, visible components align with previous alleged renders. For instance, the back screen is expected to be a 3.4-inch 720 x 748 cover display. Additionally, the side-by-side camera lenses, another rumored design update, can be observed.

Competitor phones such as the Oppo Find N2 have already implemented a droplet-style fold, which helps reduce the visible crease that has been a common issue with folding phones.

On Monday, prolific leaker SnoopyTech initiated a scavenger hunt that ultimately led to leaked renders of both the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 in various colors, using a binary-coded tweet as the first clue. Upon translation, the tweet directed readers to Pastebin for further clues, ultimately revealing renders and specifications.

According to SnoopyTech’s leaked specifications, the colors available for the Z Flip 5 are Cream, Graphite, Mint, and Lavender. The Z Fold 5, on the other hand, will be available in Icy Blue, Cream, and Phantom Black.

In addition to new color options and design refinements, Samsung’s foldable phones will feature upgraded Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPUs and a thinner chassis. This aligns with previous rumors from April suggesting a reduction in the Z Fold 5’s depth.

According to the leaked specs, the Fold 5 will have a reduced thickness of 13.4mm compared to the thinnest point of the folded Galaxy Z Fold 4 at 14.2mm. Similarly, the Z Flip 5 will decrease from 15.9mm to 15.1mm when folded. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 might also lose some weight, dropping 10 grams in comparison to last year’s model. Furthermore, the leak suggests that the Fold 5’s camera array may include a 12MP telephoto lens, contradicting previous leaks that claimed a 10MP telephoto lens, as seen in the Fold 4.

Notably absent from SnoopyTech’s leak are the 128GB and 1TB models for either phone. Although their absence does not guarantee they won’t be available in the final products, it is something to watch out for. Apart from that, based on SnoopyTech’s listed specs, no other significant differences stand out. Battery life, Wi-Fi connectivity, RAM, and other specifications mostly remain unchanged.
