Amidst the ongoing Adipurush controversy, the legendary television series “Ramayan,” directed by Ramanand Sagar back in the late 1980s, is all set to make a comeback. Shemaroo Tv, a popular channel, shared the promo of the iconic show on Instagram with a caption in Hindi that translates to, “We are bringing to you, dear viewers, the world-famous mythological serial ‘Ramayan.’ Watch ‘Ramayan’ from 3rd July at 7:30 PM only on your favorite channel, #ShemarooTV.”

The mythological show will be aired again on Shemaroo Tv channel starting from July 3rd at 7:30 PM. Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ramayana’ was a highly popular serial in the late 1980s.

The series starred Arun Govil as Ram, Deepika Chikhalia as Sita, Sunil Lahri as Lakshman, Dara Singh as Hanuman, and Arvind Trivedi as Ravana. Originally telecast from January 25, 1987 to July 31, 1988, the show garnered a massive response from the audience.

The announcement of the show’s return to television coincided with the release of Om Raut’s Pan-India film ‘Adipurush,’ which drew comparisons on social media. Following the unveiling of the ‘Ramayan’ promo, fans flooded the comment section with red heart emoticons, expressing their excitement. Comments like “Jai SiyaRam” and “Jai Shree Ram” flooded the post.

‘Adipurush,’ a dramatic retelling of the Ramayana, faced criticism on social media for its poor visual effects and controversial dialogues. The film received negative feedback for dialogues like ‘marega bete’ (your son will die), ‘bua ka bagicha hai kya’ (is it your aunt’s garden?), and ‘jalegi tere baap ki’ (your father will be burnt). In response to the backlash, the makers of ‘Adipurush’ decided to revamp the dialogues.

Ramanand Sagar’s son Prem REACTS

According to ANI, Prem Sagar, son of Ramanand Sagar, expressed his opinion on the matter. He said, “Manoj Muntashir is well-informed about Hinduism. I don’t understand how he even conceived such dialogues in the film. It might be a misjudgment to assume that the younger generation would like it. But you can’t do this with the audience. If you’re making Ramayan, then you cannot hurt people’s sentiments. People watch this show with devotion.”

“I have seen clips of the movie and have had a lot of interactions with people like Sunil Lehri, who played Laxman in Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ramayan.’ There seems to be some problem. I don’t even want to watch the film. Ravan was very knowledgeable, but in the movie, his portrayal with 5 heads up and 5 heads down is disheartening,” he added.
