Contrary to rumors, James Gunn from DC Studios has confirmed that the final episodes of Doom Patrol will not be shelved. Here’s what you need to know!

Back in January, before James Gunn and Peter Safran took the helm of DC Studios, it was announced that Doom Patrol and Titans would conclude after their fourth seasons. Some mistakenly believed Gunn and Safran were responsible for this decision, when in reality it had been made prior to their involvement with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD). However, a new controversy has arisen regarding Doom Patrol, with speculation on social media that the remaining episodes would never see the light of day. This speculation is fueled by the show’s lack of a return date, even two months after Titans ended, and the fact that the first part of Doom Patrol wrapped up six months ago. Warner Bros. Discovery has a history of pulling shows and canceling seasons, which adds to the concern. James Gunn addressed these rumors on Threads, stating that he couldn’t imagine a scenario in which completed episodes would not be released:

James Gunn further confirms that Doom Patrol will indeed conclude with its upcoming final episodes:

Here is Gunn’s tweet from January reaffirming that the decision to end both series was made before he and Safran joined DC Studios:

“I’m immensely proud of our gifted cast, crew, and writing staff and their efforts in bringing to life all forty-nine episodes over the last five-plus years,” said Greg Walker, showrunner for Titans, upon the initial announcement of the series’ conclusion. He expressed gratitude to Berlanti Productions, Warner Bros. Television, HBO Max, and Geoff Johns and Akiva Goldsman for their support. Jeremy Carver, showrunner for Doom Patrol, also thanked HBO Max, Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions, and DC Studios for their partnership and support. He further expressed his gratitude to the cast, crew, writing staff, and fans, promising a creative closure in the remaining six episodes.
