The Old Town of Dubrovnik is famous for its historic brick and stone alleyways, dating back to the Middle Ages, but these charming cobblestones can be quite noisy. Unfortunately, the noise pollution caused by tourists walking on the stone-paved paths has been disrupting the rest and sleep of the locals.
Mayor Mato Frankovi of Dubrovnik has announced that visitors will no longer be allowed to wheel their luggage through the city. Starting in November, a designated area will be provided outside the city where visitors can leave their bags. They will then have the option to pay a fee for a courier service to deliver their luggage to their destination.

Tourists who choose to carry their bags instead of using wheeled luggage will not be subject to the $380 fee. The authorities have set a maximum noise level of 55 decibels in the evening, to ensure a peaceful environment.
Street musicians will be required to lower the volume of their sound equipment due to the noise barrier. Similarly, loudspeakers will be removed from catering businesses.

According to The Dubrovnik Times, the city has experienced a 32% increase in tourist arrivals and overnight stays compared to the same period last year, with 289,000 arrivals and 763,500 overnight stays. This demonstrates that Dubrovnik remains a top destination for travelers.
