Rohit Sharma’s ‘Absolutely Livid’ at Shubman Gill Over Horrible Mix-up, Falls For Duck | cricket.one

Even though Rohit Sharma seems animated on the field more often than not, he, in general, does not show emotions after losing his wicket. However, the Indian captain could not resist himself after falling for a two-ball duck, and Shubman Gill, projected as India’s next big thing, was at the receiving end.

Coming to chase a challenging 159, Rohit was facing Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi in the opening over of India’s innings during the first T20I in Mohali. After playing a defensive shot on the opening ball, Rohit played a stroke towards mid-off for a quick single. While Rohit went for a run, Shubman Gill kept on looking at the ball until Ibrahim Zadran stopped it magnificently.

Zadran saw the opportunity and threw the ball at the striker’s end, whereas Rohit gave up and began to walk back to the pavilion. Rohit expressed anger at Gill, asking why he didn’t leave the crease even though Gill seemed confused.

While Gill started off brilliantly at his home ground, his impressive knock of 12-ball 23 did not last long, as Mujeeb Ur Rahman got the better of him. As of writing, India are 52/2 after seven overs, with Shivam Dube and Tilak Varma in the middle, on 14* and 9* respectively.
