Rohit Shetty presents Lady Singham Deepika Padukone: ‘My hero’

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty, on April 19, presented Deepika Padukone as Lady Singham. Shetty posted a still of Deepika from the film and called her, his ‘hero’. Deepika, who is expecting her first child, was seen dressed as a cop in the still.

Deepika Padukone is Rohit Shetty’s first female cop in his copverse. After unveiling her first look as Shakti Shetty in October 2023, Shetty dropped a sneak peek of Deepika dressed as a cop in a new still from the film. The best part was the actor recreating the ‘Singham’ hook step.

Sharing the same, Rohit wrote, “My heroâ€æ reel mein bhi aur real mein bhi (Both in reel and real life) Lady Singham!!! @deepikapadukone (sic).”

Deepika Padukone plays Lady Singham in Rohit Shetty’s copverse, ‘Singham Again’. The actor’s character from the film was introduced last year. Sharing the same, Rohit wrote, “Naari Sita ka bhi roop hai aur Durga ka bhi (In women, there is the form of Sita and also of Durga) Meet the most brutal and violent officer of our cop universe Shakti Shetty my Lady Singham Deepika Padukone (sic).”

It was in December 2022, when Rohit Shetty first confirmed that Deepika Padukone will play Lady Singham in his first female-centric copverse. At the song launch of ‘Current Laga Re’, Deepika shared a glimpse of her ‘tashan wali walk’ (walk with attitude) as Lady Singham.

At the ‘Cirkus’ event, Rohit Shetty spoke about Deepika Padukone as Lady Singham and said, “Kahi na kahi to pata chal hi jaega so I will tell now only (Somewhere or the other, the truth will come out, so I’ll tell you now). The next film that we are making is Singham from our cop universe. And every time I am asked ‘Lady Singham kab aegi‘ (When will Lady Singham come). So, ‘Singham Again’ has a Lady Singh (while pointing towards Deepika Padukone). She is my lady cop from the cop universe. We are working on it next year.”

‘Singham Again’ features an ensemble star cast comprising Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff and Ranveer Singh.
