“Shreyas Iyer should have called back Virat Kohli after his controversial dismissal vs KKR”: Navjot Singh Sidhu

Virat Kohli’s dismissal in the KKR vs RCB match has created controversy. The veteran was surprised by Harshit Rana’s high full toss, which went up in the air after hitting the batter’s willow, and the bowler took an easy catch. The right-handed person looked unstoppable before the incident. He was declared out by the on-field umpire. The star player was not convinced and took a DRS.

The full toss was dipping, and Virat was standing outside the crease. After going through several replays, the decision of the on-field umpire was upheld by the third official. Kohli lost his cool and abused the umpire. He went angrily back to the dugout after scoring 18 runs off 7 balls, laced with 2 sixes and 1 four.

Sidhu,.Varun Aaron, Wasim Jaffer and Irfan Pathan called it a wrong decision and slammed the umpire. Sidhu even lambasted KKR captain Shreyas Iyer.

“MS Dhoni recalled Ian Bell in one of the Test matches between India and England. He was given the ICC Spirit of the Cricket award. Umpire was wrong but where was Shreyas Iyer. He should have taken a call. The rule needs to change. The officials should take the point of contact into consideration and not the crease,” Navjot Singh Sidhu said on Star Sports.

The match went to the last ball, with Kolkata winning by 1 run to register their fifth victory. Batting first, the hosts posted 222/6 at the Eden Gardens. Iyer scored a fifty while several other batters made vital contributions.

RCB were in the game when Will Jacks (55) and Rajat Patidar (52) were at the crease. However, in one over, Andre Russell got rid of them, and the two-time champions returned to the contest.

Dinesh Karthik looked dangerous, but Russell sent him back. Karn Sharma attacked Mitchell Starc, slamming three sixes in the 20th over. However, he was caught and bowled by Starc and the home team won by 1 run.
