Sobhita Dhulipala highlights the importance of emotional intelligence and understanding in cultivating meaningful connections

Tinder, the app for meeting new people, is back with a brand new episode of Swipe Ride, a show that delves into thoughtful and meaningful conversations about the desires of Indian women in their dating lives. The second episode of this season features Sobhita Dhulipala, a pan-Indian actress and millennial icon. The episode premiered on Monday, July 31, 2023, on Tinder’s YouTube channel and is exclusively available for streaming on JioCinema.

Kusha Kapila, a popular social media content creator and actor, returns as the host of the show, picking up Tinder members to meet their dates with a surprise celebrity guest. They engage in conversations about dating and relationships. In the recently released episode, Sobhita, Kusha, and app member Aishwarya discuss their ultimate green flag checklist, healthy masculinity, and breaking the barriers of societal conditioning to embrace modern love. When talking about what constitutes a healthy dating experience, Sobhita shares with Aishwarya that being able to be one’s authentic self without changing to please the other person is the biggest green flag. This sentiment resonates with 70% of women daters in India who appreciate feeling comfortable to be true to themselves. The trio also explores traditional masculinity norms and recognizes emotional intelligence and empathy as desirable qualities that make a person “relationship material.” This aligns with Tinder’s Future of Dating report, which reveals that young singles today prioritize values such as loyalty (79%), respect (78%), and open-mindedness (61%) over physical appearance (56%).

Dhulipala states, “It seems like this generation is challenging the relationship standards passed down to them from previous generations in order to adapt to a more diverse society. Dating apps have given women a choice like never before, empowering them to unlearn biases and discover what they truly seek. Tinder’s Swipe Ride celebrates this freedom of choice. It was refreshing to see this fun and confident co-passenger’s unapologetic approach to dating choices.”

To empower young women in India to navigate the world of online dating and prioritize their well-being, Tinder recently launched Tinder Love and Care (TLC), a dating wellness guide developed in collaboration with That Sassy Thing. TLC features advice and insights from 15 prominent female experts and queer voices in India, covering topics such as sexual health, intimacy, and fostering honest conversations with dates, all while emphasizing self-care.

Kusha Kapila adds, “Young women today are upfront about their desires in their dating lives. They are normalizing conversations around female desire, body positivity, consent, and boundaries, which viewers will witness on Swipe Ride. For the third season, I had the opportunity to witness female Tinder members confidently assert their dating choices and take control of what they want. I was thrilled to play a role in facilitating these meaningful conversations.”

Taru Kapoor, GM of Tinder and Match Group India, states, “Swipe Ride celebrates the diverse perspectives of young Indian women and their dating journeys in a relatable context. It engages in open dialogues about the importance of self-care, financial freedom, dating autonomy, and showing up with confidence and freedom of choice. Young women daters are fiercely honest and transparent about putting themselves out there for all kinds of possibilities.”

The Swipe Ride series, co-created by film director Debbie Rao and popular writer Supriya Joshi, is a result of the collaboration of these independent women who take charge in their careers and dating lives.
