Wasn’t that a blast? As you can see, LEGO minifigures have replaced the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog character in this DLC. It’s uncertain if this accurately represents the gameplay, but it would be fantastic if Robotnik always appeared as a LEGO minifigure when using that skin.
It’s admirable that Sega announced both the DLC and pre-order bonuses together. Classic Sega move. However, it seems like the DLC doesn’t offer much. Will we see LEGO minifigures of other characters? My guess is no, but surprises can happen.
Sonic Superstars is an upcoming classic-style side-scroller with four-player co-op. I’m highly anticipating it, although I can’t help but recall the co-op experience in the Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog games. It was quite dreadful for the player assigned as Tails. When my husband and I started dating, he was thrilled to discover that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 had co-op. Despite my warnings, he was extremely disappointed when we finally played it together. It’s only slightly better than handing your sibling an unplugged controller for them to pretend they’re playing.
Sonic Superstars will be released later this year for PS4/PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC. As for the LEGO Sonic DLC, there’s no confirmation on its release date, but since Leggman is a pre-order bonus, it suggests that the DLC will be available alongside the game.
