On the first day of the second Test match of the Ashes 2023 series against England, Australian batter Steve Smith displayed his remarkable skills with an unbeaten knock of 110 runs off 184 balls, achieving multiple records.

Steve Smith, the 34-year-old Australian batter, recently reached the milestone of 15,000 international runs on 29th June. He currently holds an impressive batting average of 49.67, second only to India’s Virat Kohli with an average of 53.44.

Moreover, Smith also became the second-fastest player to reach 9,000 runs in Test format, doing so in just 174 innings. The record for the fastest 9,000 runs in Tests is held by former Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara, who achieved the feat in 172 innings.

Steve Smith also became the fastest player to reach this milestone in terms of matches played, achieving it in just 99 Test matches. This surpasses Brian Lara, who achieved the milestone in his 101st Test.

In addition, Smith accomplished another unique achievement by scoring the most consecutive 50-plus scores at Lord’s in Tests, achieving four consecutive 50-plus scores.
