Uorfi Javed emphasizes on being your authentic fearless self, prioritizing your own needs and creating a space where you love yourself first

Tinder, the world’s most popular app for meeting new people, is back with new episodes of Swipe Ride. Now in its third year, the show celebrates open, meaningful conversations about the desires of Indian women in their dating lives. The first episode of this year features internet sensation and fashion icon Uorfi Javed and will premiere on Friday, 7th July, 2023, on the app’s YouTube channel and exclusively on JioCinema.

Kusha Kapila, a popular social media content creator and actor, takes the driver’s seat once again to pick up app members for surprise dates with celebrity guests, as they discuss various aspects of dating and relationships. In the recently released episode, Uorfi, Kusha, and Tinder member Heeral talk about the importance of self-care, self-awareness, confidence, first dates, and positive signs in a relationship. Uorfi shares her experiences with Heeral on her first date, encouraging her to break away from the conventional idea of “the one” and be open to all possibilities. Interestingly, 80% of young Indian women daters between 18-25 agree that they are challenging traditional relationship goals and dating standards passed down from previous generations.

Uorfi further emphasizes the importance of being your authentic self, prioritizing your own needs, and creating a space where you love yourself unconditionally. She is not alone in this mindset, as 8 out of 10 young Indian women daters prioritize self-care when dating, and having a partner who values self-care is crucial for a happy relationship. This shift reflects the growing trend of Indian women exploring diverse connections and seeking personal fulfillment on their own terms.

In reference to her appearance on Swipe Ride, Uorfi stated, “When it comes to dating — or, really, life — everyone’s experience is as unique as they are. To embrace your true self, the journey must begin within. When I used the app, I was unapologetic about finding contentment within myself and prioritizing my own needs, which allowed me to open up to others. This episode of the Swipe Ride series discusses the changing culture around love and relationships, and it’s incredible to see modern Indian women embracing self-love, confidence, self-belief, and unapologetically putting themselves first. Making space for yourself and eliminating individuals who don’t bring positive energy is a significant sign of a healthy relationship.”

The trio also discussed their expectations and desires in modern relationships and how online dating empowers Indian women with autonomy and freedom. For Uorfi, online dating represents freedom and the ability to make choices. This sentiment resonates with more than half of young adult female daters in India, who believe that dating apps allow them to meet people outside their social circles and expand their connections. To empower young Indian women in navigating the world of online dating and prioritizing their well-being, the app recently launched Tinder Love and Care (TLC), a dating wellness guide developed in collaboration with That Sassy Thing. TLC features advice and insights from 15 prominent female experts and queer voices in India, addressing topics such as sexual health, intimacy, and fostering honest conversations while prioritizing self-care.

Kusha adds, “Young women today are upfront about what they want when it comes to their dating lives. They are normalizing conversations about female desire, body positivity, consent, and boundaries, which viewers will witness on Swipe Ride. In the third season, I had the opportunity to witness female Tinder members confidently making their dating choices and taking charge of their desires. I am delighted to have played a role in facilitating these meaningful conversations.”

“Swipe Ride celebrates the diverse perspectives of young Indian women and their dating journeys in a relatable context. From discussing the importance of self-care, financial freedom, and dating autonomy to embracing confidence and freedom of choice, young women daters are unapologetically honest and transparent about pursuing all possibilities,” says Taru Kapoor, GM of Tinder and Match Group India.
