This EV Is Essentially an Enlarged RC Car

If you’ve ever had the desire to enlarge your childhood toys, look no further than The Little Car Company based in the UK. This innovative organization has created an adult-sized version of the iconic Tamiya Wild One RC car from the 1980s, as reported by Car and Driver. The remarkable aspect of this creation is that it is a fully electric vehicle equipped with eight interchangeable battery packs, providing an impressive range of 124 miles.

The Wild One Max possesses impressive speed, capable of reaching a top speed of 62 mph. However, what truly captivates enthusiasts is the striking resemblance between the full-size vehicle and its smaller counterpart. Its awe-inspiring design can be witnessed firsthand as the EV makes its public debut at the renowned Goodwood Festival of Speed in West Sussex, England, a venue often chosen by manufacturers to unveil peculiar automotive concept designs.

Unlike typical concept cars, the Tamiya Wild One Max will be street legal and available for purchase. The estimated cost of this remarkable creation is around $45,000. Unfortunately, availability will be limited to the UK due to the stringent federal vehicle standards in the United States, preventing adventurous drives through the hills of Virginia in this beast.

While the initial announcement of the Tamiya Wild One Max was made in 2021, the design has undergone significant changes since then. The latest version is larger, more powerful, and naturally, more expensive, with the original design projected to cost approximately $8,500. The revised model also features an improved front suspension system, a spacious interior accommodating two occupants, and weighs a total of 1,100 pounds.

Interestingly, The Little Car Company is predominantly recognized for miniaturizing classic cars into collectible replicas, making this endeavor a departure from their usual forte. It seems the company has transitioned from the famous film “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” to a scenario where they’ve “Blew Up the Kid.” This shift in focus is indeed impressive.

If you find yourself in Europe with disposable income, you have the option to enhance your EV purchase with the Road Pack. This optional package includes a windscreen, a pair of miniature wipers, mirrors, mudguards, and detachable lights. Although this vehicle meets the criteria of a quadricycle in Europe, allowing it to be registered for road use, it is not permitted for highway travel.
