Carey Gives England a Late Lifeline in the Chase
When England required four runs to win, Mark Wood edged a delivery from Mitchell Starc, and Alex Carey failed to catch the ball, giving Wood a reprieve. It was a tough chance that could have been taken by Scott Boland at the third man position, but Carey, sprinting a significant distance, made a dive and dropped the ball, allowing Wood to sneak through for a single.
Three balls later, Chris Woakes stepped away and powerfully struck Starc through the point region, sealing England’s victory.
