Dietary Modifications You Must Bring To Mitigate Liver Disease
TheHealthsite.com spoke to Dr. Abhijit Borse, from Asian Heart Institute, Mumbai and he suggested the following lifestyle modifications that can help mitigate liver disease or even prevent it from occurring:
- Dietary modifications,
- Stop drinking alcohol,
- Regular exercise, and
- Weight loss, have shown promise in mitigating both NAFLD and cardiovascular risk.
Targeting underlying metabolic abnormalities through pharmacotherapy, such as insulin sensitizers and lipid-lowering agents, may also confer cardiovascular benefits in NAFLD patients.
Lets us look into the lifestyle modifications in detail
Why is it essential to make dietary modifications in order to mitigate liver disease? Foods that are unhealthy, overly processed, full of trans fat, saturated fat and sugar are very bad for your liver. If you eat excess of these foods, over time, the liver and your body will be unable to break down these calories and fats. These will then begin to accumulate around the organ causing fatty liver disease. Similarly, if you drink too much alcohol or other drinks containing high amount of toxins, the liver will stop functioning optimally. These toxins will not get flush out and will stay in your bloodstream causing diseases like cancer. Regular exercise is important because it also helps our body flush out some of the toxins through sweat, it increases metabolism, blood circulation and also ensure optimal functioning of the organs. A good diet and exercise will automatically help you lose weight thereby preventing any type of liver disease.
