The highlight of the match so far has been the extraordinary performance of debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a remarkable 171 runs in his debut Test match away from home. He has become the first Indian player in history to achieve this feat. In fact, he is the 17th Indian batter to score a century in his debut Test match.

Yashasvi Jaiswal partnered with skipper Rohit Sharma to break the previous record set by Sunil Gavaskar and Chetan Chaurasia for a 213-run opening stand. The opening duo contributed a massive 229-run partnership, giving India a comfortable position against West Indies.

This Test match is India’s first assignment in the World Test Championship cycle 2023-25. After losing to Australia in the previous WTC final, India is determined to make it to the finals for the third time and is taking every Test match seriously.
