As Bayern Munich continues to search for a new coach, Zinedine Zidane’s name has been floated around as a potential option to take over for Thomas Tuchel after the season.
Zidane’s inability to speak German or English seems to be a roadblock to making that happen, but that did not stop the all-time great player from giving his take on today’s Champions League showdown between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
“The clashes we’ve had with Bayern have always been very nice games. They are the games we always want to play, because Bayern are also competitive — very, very strong. It’s not going to be easy. It has the status of a European classic. But at the same time, Madrid are Madrid,” Zidane told Guillermo Rai of The Athletic (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Madrid might be Madrid…but playing at the Allianz Arena against a hungry Bayern Munich side will present a massive challenge — even to a team who has won so much, so often.
