Centurion Annabel Sutherland showcases incredible skills by securing first wicket after impressive knock

Annabel Sutherland, fresh off her maiden century, made an immediate impact by claiming Australia’s first wicket, dismissing England opener Emma Lamb for 10.

In her first over, Sutherland induced an edge from Lamb, which was comfortably caught by Jess Jonassen at second slip.

With a well-pitched delivery outside off stump, Sutherland tempted Lamb into a drive, resulting in England losing their first wicket at 1-36.

“The first wicket is down and surprise, surprise it’s Annabel Sutherland,” commented Mel Jones.

“A century, and now the first wicket. She can do no wrong.”

ENGLAND BREAK THOUGH

Alana King showed good form on day two before being bowled by an excellent delivery from Lauren Bell.

With inswing, the ball started outside off stump and swung back sharply, hitting the top of the stumps.

“The radar is on, it’s through the gap of King,” Jones remarked in commentary.

Coming in at No.9, King scored 21 runs from 46 balls before being dismissed.

SUTHERLAND SCORES TON

In her first international century, Sutherland not only achieved the highest-ever score by a No.8 or lower batter in women’s Test cricket, but also reached the fastest Test hundred by an Australian woman.

GARDNER HAS LAST LAUGH

Ashleigh Gardner, supported by Alyssa Healy behind the stumps, dismissed Heather Knight shortly after she reached her half-century.

With a well-pitched delivery, Gardner managed to edge Knight’s bat straight into Healy’s hands.

Knight’s innings concluded with a strong score of 57.
