Matthew Lloyd expresses frustration over reports of Essendon Bombers logo change

Matthew Lloyd, the Essendon legend, expresses his strong disappointment regarding the potential change of the club’s iconic ‘Bomber’ logo. Recent reports suggest that Essendon is considering a switch.

According to Sam Edmund from SEN, preliminary research is being conducted by the club to explore the possibility of changing their emblem. The research project includes obtaining feedback from various stakeholders, supporters, and member groups.

Matthew Lloyd firmly opposes the idea of altering the Bomber logo, which features a jet. He emphasizes the significance of preserving the logo and tradition of the Essendon Football Club. In his opinion, sacrificing such a special symbol for the sake of a few individuals’ preferences would be a great loss.

The ongoing project aims to understand the perspective of Essendon members and stakeholders towards their club. Numerous consultations have taken place over the past four months.

Lloyd shared his views on Nine’s Footy Classified, stating, “I would be very disappointed if the Bomber was gone, both the name and logo. Have we stooped to a point where we are willing to let go of a great logo and tradition of the Essendon Football Club because it might upset a few people? I hope it remains as it is.”
