Xbox One Officially Left Behind as Microsoft Moves Forward

Microsoft has made significant strides in the realm of cloud gaming and shows no signs of slowing down. As part of these efforts, Xbox One users now have the ability to enjoy select Xbox Series X|S games, such as “Starfield” and “Forza Motorsport,” through Xbox Cloud Gaming. The introduction of Xbox Cloud Gaming in 2020 allowed users to stream games directly from the cloud. A year later, this service was brought to the Xbox One, enabling gamers to play next-generation titles on their older consoles. Just like how streaming has transformed the movie and TV industry, many industry experts envision that cloud gaming will ultimately dominate the gaming industry.

While it may be the end of the road for the Xbox One, the Xbox Series X is here to stay. Microsoft recently showcased numerous highly anticipated new titles and DLC during its Xbox Games Showcase. Whether it was the in-depth reveal of “Starfield” or the debut gameplay trailer for “Avowed,” the Xbox Series consoles hold immense potential for upcoming games.

It’s evident that Xbox Series X owners can rest assured that their consoles won’t face the same fate as the Xbox One anytime soon. However, there is a slight chance that the Xbox Series S may be approaching its twilight. Even though the smaller and more affordable console belongs to the same generation as the Series X, its technical specifications are markedly inferior. Despite the announcement of an enhanced and upgraded Series S, numerous game developers are already expressing frustrations with its hardware limitations.
